Snowglobe Photo Ornament DIY

Snowglobe Photo Ornament DIY

Create adorable photo ornaments with your preschool class for a simple winter gift they can give their loved ones! This is a low-mess activity that toddlers through tweens will love crafting. Read below on how to make these snowglobe/snowman themed ornaments!

Materials Needed

Black Cardstock
Tissue Paper
Contact Paper
Cutting Machine

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Download and Cut the Cut File

To get started, purchase our cut file. Cut on your cutting machine. If you don't have a cut file, purchase a craft kit to create these suncatchers here. Add to your Cricut design space, and add text on the snowglobes. Use the slice tool to remove text from the shape. Resize as needed and cut on your machine.

Step 2: Prepare the Contact Paper

  1. Cut 2 pieces of contact paper about the size of your chosen shapes. If you cut the snowglobes at 5" wide, cut the tissue paper at 5.5" wide.
  2. Peel off one side of the backing, and place your design BACKWARDS onto the contact paper. The text should be backwards.
  3. Find your photos and cut out the face, and place face down on the face of the snowman. These don't need to be a perfect fit! Extra space as fine as you will fill with tissue paper.

Step 3: Create the Colorful Design

  1. Tear or cut the tissue paper into small squares or shapes.
  2. Place the tissue paper onto the sticky side of the contact paper. You can cut very small pieces for toddlers and they can sprinkle it on. Older kids can place and tear as they go.

Step 4: Seal the Design

  1. Once your design is complete, peel off the backing of the second piece of contact paper.
  2. Carefully place a second piece of contact paper over the tissue paper to seal it in. This will protect the tissue paper and make your suncatcher more durable.

Step 5: Cut Away Excess

  1. Use scissors to trim away excess

Step 6: Gift or Display

  1. Loop a piece of string through the hole at the top and you are done!
  2. Wrap these as a sweet gift for loved ones. You can hang on a Christmas tree or in a window!
